PCC4Refugees Internal Teams

Peace Corps Community for Refugees is looking for motivated and collaborative volunteers to join our teams. We have several internal volunteer positions available that would be a great match for a variety of skill sets, experiences, and backgrounds. These positions are open to current members and non-members. Most roles can expect to volunteer remotely for less than 5 hours per week.

Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service (LIRS) 

LIRS is currently seeking applicants for a variety of paid positions nationwide and applications from RPCVs are especially welcome. LIRS  is a non-profit organization that works directly with the Office of Refugee Resettlement to welcome and support refugees and migrants entering the United States. Team Rubicon | Los Angeles 

Team Rubicon has had great success in engaging RPCVs as Team Leaders in cities welcoming large numbers of Afghans. Team Rubicon is hiring for two positions:

Border Servant Corps

The "Interpreter Phone Book" serves as a resource for migrant shelters in the borderlands when language assistance is needed. Interpretation may be needed for as little as 1 simple question or as much as a 60+ minute medical consultation, travel explanation, etc. If you have questions, please feel free to contact



ENGin is a nonprofit organization that pairs Ukrainian youth with English-speakers for free online conversation practice and cross-cultural connection. We work with students age 13-35 and volunteers age 14+.  Minimum commitment of 10-12 weeks. Fill out this form to apply:


Jewish Family Services | San Diego

The San Diego Rapid Response Migrant Shelter operated by Jewish Family Services provides shelter services which include case management, travel assistance, nutrition services, medical screenings, and financial support for migrant families. Volunteers are needed to welcome refugees and asylum seekers with dignity and compassion.  Volunteers are needed as:

Shelter Couriers are needed to help pack and deliver meals to families. Volunteers are responsible for putting together bags of hygiene items, food, and other supplies and delivering them to hotels. 

Airport/Greyhound Guides help families navigate the ins and outs of transportation by serving as a transportation guide! Guides are responsible for picking up families from their respective hotels, helping them print their boarding tickets, and escorting families through the airport or greyhound station until they arrive at their boarding gate. Positions available 7 days a week!

Al Otro Lado | San Diego

At this time, most of Al Otro Lado’s services for asylum seekers in Tijuana are remote. However, they are currently accepting limited volunteers to assist with human rights monitoring at the port-of-entry in Tijuana, Mexico.  Interested volunteers need to fill out an on-line application located at:

Most in-person volunteer activities have been suspended until further notice. Refugee Assistance Alliance (RAA)

RAA places volunteers and Community Sponsorship teams with former refugees both online and in-person in Broward and Miami Dade counties. Volunteers and Community Sponsorship teams serve as dedicated mentors and guides, ESL teachers, committee members, and more.


World Relief | Chicago

World Relief — Chicagoland with offices in DuPage, Aurora and Chicago are seeking volunteers for a variety of refugee support activities.  Their current focus includes assisting Afghan Refugees arriving in the U.S but they support refugees from all countries.  To learn more about the organization click on the link above.  If you are interested in working specifically in support of the Afghan crisis, email to express interest.

United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Department of Migration and Refugee Services (USCCB/MRS)

Please complete this form to convey availability to welcome and support the processing of Afghans who have been relocated to the United States and are at one of multiple U.S. government facilities throughout the country. At this time, we are unable to provide a timeline for the total possible duration of this engagement, though availability for at least two weeks is strongly preferred. We are also unable to convey at this time the facility where your help will be needed most; those details would be provided in a later communication based on your responses to this form. However, reasonable expenses will be reimbursed, including air/ground transportation and lodging.

New Jersey

 Joint Base McGuire/Dix/Lakehurst

There is an immediate opportunity for Return Peace Corps Volunteers (RPCVs) to volunteer alongside federal, military, and NGO partner staff in support of Afghan guests at Joint Base McGuire/Dix/Lakehurst in New Jersey while they are in the process of getting resettled in communities across the country. The specific support needed is for the facilitation of cultural orientation sessions. Volunteers will work alongside translators to deliver an established curriculum covering various aspects of American culture and life in the United States. Topics include money management, education, U.S. laws and regulations, and coping with culture shock. 

This is a volunteer opportunity for in-person support with cultural orientation. This support is needed immediately and is currently anticipated through to the end of December 2021. Experience with classroom teaching is preferable, but not necessary. This opportunity is only open to Returned Peace Corps Volunteers. Interested RPCVs must be fully vaccinated and adhere to COVID-19 mitigation measures, including the wearing of masks, while they are volunteering. Volunteer shifts will vary but are anticipated to be one and a half to two hours long, up to five times per week. Ideal volunteers would be able to commit support for at least 1-2 weeks. Interested volunteers will be assigned shifts based on their availability. A reminder that this is a volunteer opportunity and no lodging/travel allowances or per diem will be provided.

Volunteer Opportunity in Warsaw, Poland

Looking to help Ukrainian refugees in Europe?  The Great Orchestra of Christmas Foundation invites you to join their efforts.  They provide temporary shelter, clothing and many other necessary items for Ukrainian refugees in Warsaw.  The volunteers work an 8-hour shift greeting Ukrainians on arrival and orienting them to the goods available in the Foundation’s tent.  The Foundation does not provide accommodations.  If you are interested, click here  and complete the form with your first name, last name, email address and phone number.  You will be contacted by Marcin Garczyński, the Volunteer Coordinator, or by someone on her team who can give you more information about the organization and answer your questions.  Please note, Peace Corps Community for Refugees does not have the resources to provide accommodations or medical support to volunteers who take up this challenge.  


Annunciation House | El Paso

Annunciation House manages several Shelters: Casa Vides, Casa Refugiado, Casa Oscar Romero.  Annunciation House is accepting a limited number of short-term volunteers to assist with providing hospitality to refugees enrolled in the Migrant Protection Protocols. MPP participants are now being admitted to the U.S. and will receive temporary hospitality as they are assisted in making plans to travel to their sponsors elsewhere in the US. Casa Marianella | Austin

The Director of Casa Marianella explained that she currently has two RPCVs working with her but that she is in need of French speakers.  Interested RPCVs with high-intermediate to advanced French skills should email to express interest in volunteering.  Be sure to mention that you're an RPCV and speak French.  The ideal volunteer would live in Austin but it may be possible to serve virtually.  You will need to discuss this with the Director.

Valley Humanitarian Respite Center | McAllen

The Respite Center is interested in RPCVs to assist with providing shelter services to new arrivals of asylum seekers and refugees.  There are approximately 800 new arrivals daily and about 600 departures. The Center offers migrants a place to sleep overnight, 3 meals, toiletries and fresh clothes, and assistance with obtaining travel arrangements to their ultimate destination.  Volunteers assist with all of these activities.  Spanish is not required.  Volunteers have to find their own lodging.

International Rescue Committee | Abilene

IRC has volunteer opportunities in Abilene, Texas.  Individuals that want to volunteer can apply for specific positions such as: Youth Mentor, Single Mother Mentor, Client Training Volunteer, Employment Volunteer, etc.  Check the website for additional positions and to apply for volunteer opportunities.

Center for Refugee Services | San Antonio

CRS is not recruiting volunteers at this time due to COVID.  This information will be updated when volunteer opportunities become available.

Amaanah | Houston

Amaana's website does not provide information about volunteer opportunities but you can complete a form on the website to express interest in volunteering.   The Program Manager also suggests that you text the word “Volunteer” to 844-358-3872.  The organization seeks volunteers for:

  1. One-time distribution events every 3-4 months
  2. Teachers for after school and English language programs
  3. Supporting women in preparing for jobs through the Big Sister program
